Advocacy

The needs and requirements of each individual with care and support needs can be vastly different, and as individuals we all have different preferences, and so in order for a person to communicate these opinions, preferences, requirements and needs, they may require an advocate.

Advocacy for people with learning disabilities is hugely important, as they are often at risk of being ignored because they may not be able to communicate verbally or in a ‘conventional’ way.

Our leadership team has previously held close links with local advocacy organisations such as People First and intends to develop links and partnerships alongside people that we support in their local area in addition to making appropriate referrals to DCC advocacy provider, Devon Advocacy Consortium.
